Minion Monday: We Kick off Dune Week with Recipes for Tabara Cake and Spice Tea

Dune_Muadib_Wants_Cake

This week, we honor accidental messiah’s, masochistic redheads, and giant sandworms. That’s right, it’s time for Kitchen Overlord’s long awaited Dune week. Whether you’re a Frank Herbert purist, a fan of David Lynch’s impractically beautiful vision, or one of the few, the proud, the SyFy interpretation aficionados, we have a week full of recipes that would make you trade your own mother for her water.

Since this is Monday, we’re kicking it all off with a recipe from one of the minions.

Tabara Cakes and Hot Spice Tea

According to the Dune Encyclopaedia: Tabara is a Fremen dessert. It’s a sweet cake of heavy consistency, made of a mixture of cooked and mashed tabaroot, honey and spices pressed into a dish. Then sprinkled with sugar, dried seeds and crystallized fruit.
It’s served as tiny triangles with fruits and hot spiced coffee.
