Hackers 20th Anniversary Cookies

Since Kitchen Overlord’s chief minion, Lil Jinni, has successfully infiltrated DefCon for years, it’s no surprise she has the cookies you so desperately covet. Now, you hapless techno weenie, get your mouth ready for a cookie that’s not garbage!

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the movie Hackers I decided to make some cookies to celebrate our upcoming movie night! Happy pirate face sugar cookies with frostings and the iconic yellow 3.5 disk with the garbage file (garbage not  included). However while I was busy out roller blading Zero Crumbs hacked my kitchen and took off with half the batch before I can get any photos taken – so the frosting job wasn’t my best… and it died like the rest.

Type cookie, you idiot!

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, and the baking powder.

Place the butter, yogurt, and the sugar in a large bowl and beat together, until it’s creamy. You’re in the butter zone now, baby.

Once the butter and sugar are mixed, add the egg, the vanilla extract, and mix until combined.

With the mixer running on low, add the dry ingredients in a slow and steady stream.

Roll dough out into 1/4inch thick sheet and cut into circles (for the Hack the Planet face) and squares (for the 3.5 disk).

ProTip: The cookie cutters are in that place where I put that thing that time but incase you can’t find them slicing the dough into squares with a knife and using a cup turned upside down work in a pinch too!

Bake at 350 degrees  for 10 minutes. Don’t crash and burn them!

Frosting Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups  confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp light corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/8 salt
  • Yellow food coloring
  • Black food coloring

Mix together the sugar, vanilla, corn syrup, water and salt together until thoroughly blended

Separate frosting into two bowls (for the colors).

Add food coloring and mix again.

Decorate the cookies.

Final step… Hack the planet.
