Hacker’s 20th Anniversary Stoll House Cookies

the cuckoos egg cover

We cant talk about hackers without giving a nod to one of the greatest true-story hacker stories ever penned!!!  Cliff Stoll was ever so gracious to include his amazing cookie recipe in his book, The Cuckoo’s Egg. You can find his Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe per the foot notes on page 155 of The Cuckoo’s Egg.

[ed note: Back in 1989, when the book was first published, he unironically included his email address so people could contact him directly to talk about whether his cookies were REALLY the best. The internet of the 80’s was truly a magical, dick-pic-free place!]

Stoll House Cookies

Mix eggs, brown sugar, regular sugar, and butter.

Fold in 2 1/4 cups flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda, and a couple tbsp of vanilla extract.

For extra chocolate jag, toss in 3 tbsp of cocoa with the dry ingredients.

Drop heaping tablespoons of batter on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake ’em at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.

Enjoy with a bottle of Olde Fortran Malt Liquor while reading classic books on hacking and contemplating just how much the tech landscape has changed in Stoll’s lifetime.

If that’s not enough to fill your inner Hacker’s need for cookies, check out Minion Lil Jinni’s 20th anniversary cookies celebrating the movie Hackers.
